My favorite food "Porotos con Pirco"
"Porotos con pirco" is a typical Chilean dish that consists of beans, corn and squash. All in a soup of the same cooking.
The name is of Mapuche origin and derives from the word PIDCU, which means beans cooked with chopped corn.
Personally, the crunchy of the corn when eating, is my favorite part of the dish, and I love that at my house they are eaten in summer, my favorite season! that gives it a special meaning. But, the best "porotos con pirco" that I have tried are the ones that my mother cooks, because the colored chili that she adds, gives it a unique flavor.
Also, this dish has a positive impact on my health, because everything is organic and fresh, nothing is frozen or preserved, and i live in an agricultural region, so all products arrive direct and I can easily buy them from local farmers.
Beans are just as tasty as a good "porotos con riendas", especially if they are well prepared and if the products in the dish are natural "from the area" and not so processed, they make the dish even better and healthier.
ResponderEliminarHow wonderful to know where the food you eat comes from! I also love beans in all its forms of preparation. How delicious they are!
ResponderEliminarI love beans too. I had no idea of its origin in the Mapuche name. Beans are my favorite type of beans.
ResponderEliminaroh I think that I have never tasted them like this but it sounds delicious, I hope can eat this food someday. Even though I'm not a lover of the summer i love the food of that season :)
ResponderEliminarYou are so lucky to live in some place where the veggies are cultivated. I have to say that porotos con pirco it's the only beans preparation what I like .
ResponderEliminarHi Paloma! How are you? The picture whetted my appetite! with my family we usually eat it in winter because of the cold, but it made me want to prepare it to enjoy it, and how lucky you are that you live in and agricultural area, no doubt it's much better when everything is natural and fresh!
ResponderEliminarHi! I like this dish too but I know it by another name, "Porotos con pilco". We usually eat it in winter for the cold, it feels great to have warm food in your stomach and the beans have a very good taste no matter how you prepare them.
ResponderEliminarBest regards.
